Look at a slide show of some of our grain bins we have sold on the Sioux Steel Company product page. Let Glen's experience help you with your bin choices.
Farm Bin Standard Features
Hooded Roof Vents
The steel or poly roof vent has a big, wide 15” x 15” inlet area for free air movement. Lap over design on the steel roof vent prevents leakage of moisture and condensation.
Solid Tieless Walk-In Door
Truly a walk-in door with no cross ties. Clear span opening allows anyone to walk in and out without having to crawl or unbolt any parts.
On bins 21’ to 48’ in diameter, compression rings with locking collars crown the roof for added strength. Every Sioux bin comes with the
optimum number of rings.
You won’t have to wonder if you can make it through the man-way when you’re out in the elements with lots of layers of clothing on. It’s the most user-freiendly man-way!
Fill caps are designed for one-handed control of the cap. Ground control or flat top-style caps are optional for permanent installation of cross augers or spouting.
Corrugation on sheets reduce pressure on the sidewalls and allows grain to flow easily down bin wall with less resistance. Fewer sheets cover a wider area, lowering construction costs.
The strongest roofs available! Our roofs stand up to high winds and northern snow loads, while protecting grain year round keeping it fresh and in condition for years.
32-Degree Roof Slope
The 32-degree slope sheds moisture fast, both inside and outside of the panels.
Roof Ribs and Roof Edge
The roof ribs are deep, double-thick, overlapping and interlocked. The roof edge is rolled 340 degrees to stiffen panel edges and stand up to hard Midwest winds and reduce vibration that may cause failure. Wide ribs allow for easy assembly. Sioux Steel has the strongest farm bin roof in the industry.

Ladder & Cage System
Manufactured from sturdy, galvanized steel tube that fit the bin side wall with each ring. Four bolts simplify attachment. No drilling, extra brackets or hardware. Plus no bolts to loosen!
Floor & Floor Support System
Designed to develop equal air pressure under the entire floor surface, floor supports are heavy gauge, galvanized steel formed with ten vertical ribs to support grain depths up to 37 feet.
The auger hopper door baord is available on 15’ to 24’ diameter bins. Door frame is the same sytle on larger bins.
Made with galvanized tube, intermediate sumps and control pipes. Superior to painted black steel. Heavier components and heavy duty clutch provide a longer work life.
LJI Floor Support System:
1) Strength per square foot of floor
2) Unobstructed air movement
3) Ease of erection and stability
4) Savings in total bin cost
Verticle supports offer added strength at the entrance opening. The aerodynamically engineered “channel-flow” shape delivers air between the fan and bin plenum. Multiple sizes fit every size fan and heater.
LADDERS AND CAGES
Ladders are manufactured from sturdy galvanized steel tube that fit the bin side wall with each ring. It's safe and strong. Four bolts simplify attachment. The welded design ensures stability. No drilling, extra brackets or hardware and no bolts to loosen!
Farm Bin Fans
Sioux Steel's Axial Fans cast aluminum airfoil blade ensures economical maximum airflow at lower static pressure. Our highly trained engineers have created precision-balanced blades to achieve vibration-free operation. The hub on the blade prevents backflow air leakage at higher static pressures. They have also designed the housing with close tip clearance for maximum airflow. Airflow is increased by not allowing air to blow back through the blade and the housing for greater efficiency, providing the most efficient Axial Fan on the market today.
Sioux Gold Quality Centrifugal fans are quiet compared to other leading manufactured fans. They are bench-tested prior to shipping in order to ensure that our customers are getting a top quality product that works properly from day one. Our highly-trained engineers test motor amperage and temperature under long-term, maximum-load conditions to ensure that the motors will stand up under tough operating conditions. Adjustable legs on fans allow easy leveling and support while giving more flexibility for adjusting to inconsistencies in a concrete pad.
Commercial Bin Features
Modern technology and external forces place a variety of loads on a bin roof. Roof trusses and purlin placement are critical to ensure stability without compromising the structures strength. Combining this with deep ribbed panels give an unparalleled performance against the elements.
Tension Plates and Truss Connectors are designed to transfer the roof weight directly to the side wall stiffeners and ultimately to the concrete foundation. This transference of weight minimizes the vertical pressure on the side walls.
Wind rings offer additional strength against the elements. External pressure from wind forces are overcome by utilizing wind rings to help equalize the hoop strength. Design and quantity of wind rings are determined by diameter and height of bin to adequately handle the external forces of wind.
Manufactured of 65,000# PSI tensile strength steel (50,000# yield strength) and utilizing 4" corrugation, Sioux Steel commercial tanks offer the ultimate in vertical strength.
Combining 44 inch corrugation and 3 roof panels per single sheet lessens the demand for bolts, nuts and washers which, in turn, lowers weight and erection costs.
Anchor System and Shims
The welded foot and shim system on the Sioux Steel commercial bin insures stability and even distribution of weight. Together, they form a firm and permanent foundation that allow positive and maximum strength.
The unique ovate construction of the man-way is the largest and most "user friendly" in the industry. It is designed to allow access to a heavily clothed individual.
Four doors designed specifically for strength and integrity dependent on the diameter and height of the structure. All feature tieless inside panels, secure latching and a large 36” x 27” opening.
Full Floor and Flush Floor
Designs range from a variety of in-concrete systems to full floor using 16, 18 or 20 gauge planking formulated by height and diameter. Choose from a welded free flow system of supports or 17 gauge die cast supports.
